Well this day didn't quite go the way planned even though all worked well with the ferries. It rained more than it has rained so far during the tour and I got completely wet after getting to Schull. I could have stayed in Schull, but I wanted to get a bit further yet. A mistake! After getting to Bantry I was soaked and had to find a b&b (no hostel in town) for the night. I'm paying more for this night than I did for the past four nights together. A big bonus (in addition to the obvious luxury) is that the lovely lady running this place did some laundry for me and everything will be clean and dry in the morning again. This is something I could get used to...
The weather should be getting better some time in the afternoon tomorrow. There's going to be some serious camping the last two weeks if the weather really gets better.
Schull was a nice town, too bad it rained too heavily for sightseeing. I took a small road from there to Bantry and only stopped twice on the way. The first stop was a failed attempt to wait for better weather and the second was a quick stop at an ancient monument, the standing stones. The rain made taking pictures hard (you can see my umbrella In the photo) so you might want to check out the photos in the link.
It really is a shame no one was there to take a picture of me cycling and holding the edge of the umbrella with my teeth. I think the people who saw me must have been laughing...
So, now it is the time to close the eyes and enjoy the nice and comfy bed.
