Beara peninsula

What a wonderful day! The world looks so much nicer when the sun is shining. There were a couple of short showers in the morning, but after that it's been sunny all day.

I really have to advertise a bit before I continue. If you ever go to Bantry, you should definitely stay at Bru na Pairce B&B. In addition to the warm welcome for a dripping wet biker very late in the evening and the laundry service, the breakfast was just amazing. Fruit salad made from fresh fruit, home made yogurt and the choice of full Irish breakfast (lots of meat), pancakes or smoked kippers (my choice). Lovely!

I met two German bikers in Bantry. They had a similar wet experience yesterday. They are also trying to camp as much as possible, but their tent hasn't been working very well in Irish summer. They did have the same bags from Ortlieb I have and at least they are holding out well.

From Bantry I went to Glengarriff, or actually I just cycled through it, because the sun was shining again. My journey continued along the south coast of Beara peninsula. Adrigole was the next bigger town on the way. The sceneries were amazing. I continued on the coast instead of going to the northern coast through the Healy pass. The weather was just too nice and the sceneries too beautiful.

I had late lunch in Castletownbere in a nice cafe and around 4 pm. I then continued west toward the end of the Beara peninsula. I reached the cable car station in Dursey sound around 8 o'clock. It was too late for the cable car to the Dursey island by then. That was ok though, because I started to feel a bit tired and weary by then anyway.

I went back the road I came for some kilometers and then turned to Alliehies, a beautiful small costal town. About 2 kilometers from there I found a nice spot for my tent. The sun it's setting over the sea right next to me soon.

Today's pictures are in the folder already. Enjoy!
